Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
