A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director

Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he only now felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.

"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the production, remarking that he doesn't recollect "one day without joy".

"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."

Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator

In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.

"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.

Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted

In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A legal directive put a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the probe.

The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

Response and Criticism

After the deaths, public personalities expressed varying reactions.

Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial remarks that were met with immediate backlash by many public figures.

Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan described the remarks as "shocking" and suggested they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan concluded by suggesting that an aide should have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the death was made.
